More details regarding Ultra Music Festival’s digital-only makeup event have emerged. Earlier in the week it came to light that Ultra Music Festival‘s organizers would team up with SiriusXM on a digital event to fill the void left by the gathering’s 2020 cancellation on account of COVID-19 concerns. Now, official set times are available for Ultra Virtual Audio Festival. Major Lazer, The Chainsmokers, and Armin Van Buuren are the digital festival’s equivalent of headliners for each of the three days in that order. Mixed in throughout the day are Carl Cox, Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero, and Oliver Heldens among others. Ultra was the first festival of its size to fall to coronavirus concerns. South By Southwest was cancelled shortly thereafter, and by the time Coachella followed suit it became clear to those in the music world and beyond that the unfolding pandemic would drastically change the lives of a significant proportion of the population. Ultra Virtual Audio Festival takes place March 20th-23rd on SiriusXM's Diplo's Revolution channel 52. For more information, you can check out the portion of the SiriusXM website dedicated to the program here. Dutch DJ Don Diablo has already brought us to the future through his music, out of-this-world performances, videos featuring robots, and a cool clothing line collection - but now he's taking it even further. He has released the first issue of his sci-fi comic book series, Hexagon. Don Pepijn Schipper, better known as Don Diablo, debuted the comic book series this past fall at New York Comic Con and promoted it last month at C2E2 Chicago. The future house DJ described it as a coming-of-age story greatly influenced by his sci-fi favorites, Star Wars and The Last Starfighter. CEO of Impact Theory, Tom Bilyeu, and Don Diablo at the 2019 New York Comic Con.The comic book series follows the adventures of a 12-year-old boy named Don. After he wins an unbeatable video game, he unknowingly brings about an alien invasion and finds himself stuck in an intergalactic battle that's been going on for years. Although the story is geared towards a younger audience, its unifying factor is something that Schipper hopes will resonate with people of all ages. At New York Comic Con he said the reason why he loves Star Wars, sci-fi and comics is "that it's not just about the story, it's about the underlying story. About how it brings people together." Hexagon Issue 1Hexagon is available for purchase in comic book stores worldwide or on Impact Theory's website. The comic book house is also home to Steve Aoki's ongoing Neon Future comic book series. DJ Diesel and Riot Ten will drop “Ultimate” featuring T-Wayne on Friday, March 20th, 2020 via Dim Mak. Both of the producers shared a preview of the the track via social media. In the 30-second clip, T-Wayne’s vocals accentuate the hard-hitting Bass of the dubstep soundscape. COVID-19 permitting, the song ought to find its way into plenty of DJ sets throughout this year’s festival season. As his foray into EDM has ramped up in recent years, O’Neal has begun to collaborate with more and more of bass music’s mainstays. Perhaps the most anticipated of his upcoming releases is a track with Diplo that he has affectionately dubbed “Shiplo.” It remains to be seen whether O’Neal will release additional music in the coming months. Major Lazer Album Is Finished from https://www.youredm.com/2020/03/18/diplo-new-major-lazer-album-finished/ One of the world’s most dominant apps, TikTok, is under some serious heat for suppressing video content from its users. A new report published by the Intercept reveals TikTok documents in which moderators were instructed to stifle content from users “who appeared too ugly, poor or disabled” for the platform. This was with the goal in mind to attract new and youthful users. The docs go into details, describing “ugly” as those who have “abnormal body shape,” are “chubby,” or “obese or too thin.” Also, those who have “ugly facial looks or facial deformities.” Also stated, “…if the character’s appearance is not good, the video will be much less attractive, not worthing [sic] to be recommended to new users.” It’s up for debate how long these practices were implemented and to what degree. Either way, this isn’t the first time TikTok has been called out for excluding content, such as political speech. TikTok, naturally, denied much of the blame: “Most of the guidelines the Intercept presented are either no longer in use, or in some cases appear to have never been in place, but it is correct that for live streaming TikTok is particularly vigilant about keeping sexualized content off the platform.” If the accusations are indeed true, TikTok’s practices ironically go against the app’s slogan, Real People. Real Videos.

London’s own Studio 338 is transforming into a food bank in hopes of making a real difference in the area. The venue currently has plans to store and distribute food to elderly and vulnerable people during weekdays. Though they’re still working out the details, the plan is in motion. Studio 338 writes in a statement via Facebook below: “Right now, one of the main priorities for us is to ensure that people who are most at risk are not forced to go out and can stay at home and have essentials brought to them there.” Community members and companies are being asked to step up and help, whether they have skills in charity management, are able to contribute financially, or have spare time to organize and stock food at Studio 338. If you are in the area and want to help out make sure to email [email protected] and [email protected]. A option to donate will also be made available soon. See the full post below and get involved. Forty-thousand of those troops stormed the Paris La Défense Arena on February 22nd to witness history as Grigahcine performed at the largest single-day electronic dance event Europe has ever seen. For those of us not lucky enough to be in his homeland with the masses that night, he's released a special aftermovie. The roughly 8-minute mini-movie, directed by Cody Macfly, Jeremie Levypon, and Bastien Dardeau, shows the magnitude of the event not only in size but in meaning for Grigahcine and his fans. Returning to where it all started for him is the ultimate full-circle moment. As fans were interviewed one word stood out in each conversation-"Incredible". As the current COVID-19 crisis continues, it's nice to look back on the simpler times when events like this could happen. We must relish in the good times of the past and know that once this is all over, more epic sets like this will come back. In the meantime, Grigahcine is here to deliver the entertainment even from quarantine as he recently released a gag song that samples Cardi B titled “Corona Virus.” FOLLOW DJ SNAKE:Facebook: facebook.com/djsnake.fr from https://edm.com/news/dj-snake-live-from-paris-la-defense-arena-aftermovie |
